“The first visit was mostly a conversation. Dr. Ogawa told me what he would do and what he would not before he touched anything.”

About us
A small practice for people who train
Sinew was started by Dr. Tomoyuki Ogawa for people who train hard in and around Eugene: trail runners on Spencer Butte and Mount Pisgah, climbers, lifters and anyone whose week is full of movement. Dr. Ogawa and Dr. Jeannie Tobin explain what they find, what they would do and what it costs before any care begins.
Care is hands-on: adjustments, soft tissue work and exercise, chosen with you. Results vary, and we do not promise an outcome or a number of visits.

Return to activity steps
Back to your activity, one step at a time
Your chiropractor sets the steps after your exam and changes them as you go. There is no set number of visits or weeks.
Talk and check
We ask what you do and what stopped you, then look at how you move.
Ease off, then move
We say what to rest, what to keep doing and what to watch for this week.
Add back slowly
Short, easy efforts first: a walk, then flat ground, then hills, as your chiropractor advises.
Back to your usual
Your usual distance and terrain return when you and your chiropractor agree you are ready. A physician comes first if something is not right.
FAQ
Common questions
Plain answers before your first visit.
What happens at my first visit?
You talk with the chiropractor first. Then comes a hands-on exam of the area that matters to you and of how you move. You leave with a plan and its cost in writing. Plan on about an hour.
Is chiropractic care safe?
Every treatment has risks. Some people feel sore or stiff for a day or two after an adjustment. Rarely, serious problems, including stroke, have been reported after neck manipulation. Your chiropractor explains the risks before care begins, and you can say no to any part of it. Some symptoms need a physician or emergency care first, and the note at the end of our services page lists them.
Will it hurt?
An adjustment can feel like pressure, and some people notice a pop or some soreness afterward. Soft tissue work can be uncomfortable on tight spots. Tell us to ease up or stop at any time. We start with the lightest option that fits.
How many visits will I need?
Your chiropractor sets a plan after the exam and changes it as you go. We do not promise a number of visits or a result. Results vary from person to person.
Do you take my insurance?
We bill many health plans that cover chiropractic care. Plans differ on what they pay. How fees work explains what we bill, what Medicare covers and how to check your plan before your first visit.
What if I already see a physical therapist or have a coach?
Tell us. With your written permission, we can share notes with your physical therapist, doctor, coach or trainer. We work around your training and never in place of your physician.
